Nails Inc Gel Effect Polish in Kensington High Street

I am obsessing over gel nail polishes lately! Anytime I have had shellacs or gel nails done professionally it’s always taken me too long to get them removed as I’m always so busy and can be quite lazy about booking appointments! When I was in London last week I just had to pop into the John Lewis store (their Christmas ad was my theme tune to Christmas 2013) and I spotted this beauty in the Nails Inc section.

This collection was released by Nails Inc last Autumn, however I only stumbled upon it lately. Nails Inc are generally quite pricier than most nail polishes and at £14 it certainly was. This nail polish promises to give a high shine, super glossy finish with plasticiser technology (along with no need for UV). The high gloss cap is designed to reflect the gel effect finish of the polish. This cap is removed to reveal a smaller easy-to-apply cap. My first impressions were that it was not as ‘Gel’ like as some of the other brands I have reviewed. I applied two coats which dried pretty quickly so that was good.
The shade I reviewed is ‘Kensington High Street’ which is a dark, vampy red. I really like the shade and it is perfect for wearing at work and also at weekends when I go out. The high-shine promise did not disappoint. While I do really like the finish I don’t think the gel-effect is very strong. I was expecting a rather thicker formula. I have been wearing it for two days now and there are already a few chips which I would not expect from a gel-effect polish.
All in all, I quite like the colour and shine and in all honesty I would probably purchase more from this range as the other shades available look quite nice however I would not consider it to be one of the best ‘gel-effect’ polishes on the market.

I would love to hear from you in the comments below. Have you tried this range and what did you think?
Do you like this shade?
