Trend Report: Autumn/Winter 2013

I have been clinging on to Summer 2013 like there’s no tomorrow but with the start of September it is time to embrace the trends that Autumn/Winter 2013 brings.

1. Tartan

Tartan is one of the biggest trends this A/W and is going to be so much fun to wear and style. Tartan fits so well with the punk rock/grunge trend which re-emerged after the MET ball earlier this year. The great thing about tartan is you can wear one tartan item with some monochrome items and really make a fashion statement. I adore the tartan style in alternative colours also such as the pencil dress above from New Look. This would look fantastic with a black blazer and heels for a chic and trendy office look. I also love the shorts and jacket which are from Penneys/Primark; I have completely fallen in love with their A/W ’13 collection!

2. Oversized Coats

What better way to wrap up this Winter than in a cosy oversized coat. I love this trend, oversized coats look great with leggings and ankle boots for a day time look. In recent years I always seem to buy my winter coat from New Look as they have such a great selection.  My favourites this year have to be the two larger images which are both from Penneys/Primark. Pink is also a huge colour this season and this cerise coat would really make a statement.

3. Ankle Boots & Fedoras

When it comes to accessories this A/W I will be relying heavily on ankle boots and fedoras! Fedora hats look so cute and stylish and have been perfect for the festival season; I see this trend continuing strongly into A/W. I cannot wait for the Penney/Primark  Fedora hats to arrive in store in early October! Some detail to look out for on ankle boots this season – cut-outs, buckles and fringeing.  I picked up a gorge pair of black fringed ankle boots from Penneys last week and cannot wait to style them.

4. Burgundy

This is going to my colour of choice from the A/W ’13 pallette. I picked up a burgundy coat from New Look at the weekend and this will be my staple coat this season. Burgundy is great for adding a pop of darker colour to your outfit and looks great with black/white items.
What other trends are you looking forward to this Season?
